Yet, over the last five years, one collective has managed not just to survive, but to quietly and meticulously build an empire rooted in loyalty, trust, and uncompromising sonics.

Named after the ancient Greek word for the highest, most selfless form of love, ÄGAPĒ began in 2021 as a warehouse night in Brooklyn defined by a heavy sound system, a fiercely curated lineup, and a room of people looking to lose themselves. More than 120 events and a thriving record label later, the platform has surpassed $1M in revenue and established itself as a vital pillar of American techno. Now, after a five-year hiatus, ÄGAPĒ Festival returns to New York for a weekend takeover.

On September 5 and 6, 2026, the collective will descend upon the historic Brooklyn waterfront for the inaugural ÄGAPĒ Festival at Industry City. Spanning two days, two massive stages, and a staggering 18 hours of programming per day from noon until 6:00 AM, this is a coronation for a community that has earned its stripes in the dark of the city's warehouses.

What sets ÄGAPĒ Festival apart from the increasingly crowded North American festival circuit is its fearless, highly deliberate sonic narrative. Rather than diluting its identity to appeal to the masses, the festival charts the full, uncompromising breadth of contemporary techno. Across the weekend, ravers will be treated to a masterclass in pacing, moving seamlessly through the playful bounce of hard groove, the peak-time ferocity of hard techno, and the deep, immersive pull of hypnotic techno. It is a sonic spectrum few domestic festivals dare to attempt on a single billing, but it’s one that ÄGAPĒ's devoted family is entirely ready for.

Saturday's programming brilliantly captures the duality of the modern rave. The open-air Hot Meal stage will serve as the festival’s daytime heartbeat, easing dancers in with melodic, forward-thinking selectors before dialing up the pressure as twilight falls. Expect sun-drenched euphoria transitioning into heavy-hitting night-shifters courtesy of Daybreak, Saint Velez, Madness Of, Ollie Lishman, Fumi, Mischluft, Bad Boombox, and HHunter. Meanwhile, indoors, the Face 2 Face stage is set to bring one of Europe’s most exhilarating and intimate clubbing formats straight to Brooklyn. Stripping away the traditional DJ booth and erasing the hierarchy between artist and crowd, this stage will place two selectors directly opposite each other in the center of a 360-degree dancefloor. The energy will be raw, conversational, and entirely unpredictable. Saturday's face-offs feature a heavyweight roster of pairings, including Ramsey Neville F2F Michelle Kay, Junkfile F2F Diossa, Flash Gea F2F Conrad Taylor, Cloudy F2F Serafina, Adrián Mills F2F Emilija, and Fenrick F2F Supergloss.

If Day One is about conversation and curation, Day Two is a declaration of pure intensity. The outdoor stage pivots toward a transatlantic spine of hypnotic and hard techno, anchored by the legendary New York mainstay Volvox, Conrad Taylor, and German hard techno institution O.B.I., alongside cutting-edge sets from Dalton Taylor, Marco Neves b2b Jay York, Future.666, David Löhlein, and Aiden b2b Kobosil. Inside, the warehouse takes a darker turn as ÄGAPĒ hands the reins over to 44 Label Group for a full-scale label takeover. Founded by Kobosil, the Berlin-based brand has become the defining aesthetic and musical force in global hard techno. Bringing their core family across the Atlantic, including KAYA, Ueberrest, Somewhen, and Clara Cuvé. The showcase will culminate in a monumental, rare three-way b2b closing set featuring Kobosil, Somewhen, and Ueberrest. It promises to be a relentless, blistering finale that will push Industry City to its absolute limits.

The debut of ÄGAPĒ Festival is expected to draw 10,000 people; the venue had to match the weight of the music. Industry City, a 35-acre industrial complex on the Sunset Park waterfront that began as Bush Terminal in 1895, provides the perfect historical backdrop. Having evolved into one of the city's most vibrant cultural campuses, the campus features an architectural blend of open-air courtyards and raw, towering warehouses that is tailor-made for the ÄGAPĒ ethos. The festival's design will allow dancers to flow effortlessly between the sunlit, open-air courtyard and the booming indoor warehouse room. Backed by festival-grade production, the transition from day to night and from outdoor to indoor will feel fluid, keeping the sonic thread intact from the first kick drum at noon until the final lights go up at 6:00 AM.
