5 Fun Facts About Elements Festival

Written by Meagen Surowiecki  on July 15, 2026

If you’ve ever wanted to escape reality and step into a magical world where music, art, and nature fuse into something completely otherworldly, you’ve probably heard whispers of the Elements Music & Arts Festival.

Tucked away in the Northeast, this fiercely independent gathering has quietly grown into one of the country's premier electronic dance music festivals. It's the sheer creativity and community that set it apart from other camping festivals in the States. Whether you’re a seasoned "Elementalist" or planning your very first trip, here are five fascinating facts about Elements that prove why this festival is in a league of its own.

1. It Sparked from Humble Waterfront Roots in Brooklyn

While thousands now flock to the mountains to camp under the stars, Elements actually had incredibly humble beginnings. It launched back in 2013 as a modest, one-day event on the industrial Brooklyn waterfront. Organized by the NYC-based production company BangOn! In NYC, those early iterations featured grungy, Mad Max-style aesthetics, with stages built among abandoned warehouses and shipping containers. That raw, underground NYC edge still heavily influences the festival’s rebellious, creative spirit today.

2. Four Entirely Different Vibeby Stages

The festival has always lived up to its name, one of the only few festivals in the country that has four expressive stages, which is the core theme of the festival’s origin. Instead of just placing generic main stages across a field, Elements designs highly immersive, themed environments that match each elemental energy. the classic ‘elements’ of Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. The  Fire stage is the home of high-octane energy, fire breathers, and heavy-hitting beats. The Earth stage is a psychedelic, forest-nestled paradise featuring deep, experimental bass and massive, glowing art installations. The Water stage is a sunny, lakeside playground filled with house music, disco, and floating pirate ships. The Air stage is a soulful, melodic, and spiritual retreat tucked away in the trees, perfect for hypnotic techno and ambient vibes.

3. A New Solar-Powered Home at the Pocono Raceway

After outgrowing its previous location in Lakewood, PA, Elements relocated to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. While a racetrack might sound sterile compared to a forest, the move has allowed the festival to massively upgrade its production, infrastructure, and security while maintaining plenty of grassy camping areas and forest-adjacent stages. The venue is powered by an on-site solar farm, aligning perfectly with the festival’s long-term sustainability goals.

4. A World of Art and Theme Camps

Unlike massive corporate festivals where you are strictly a spectator, Elements embraces a "pARTicipate" philosophy heavily inspired by Burning Man. Attendees are actively encouraged to build and register Vibe Villages, which are themed campsites that feature their own interactive installations, performance areas, and legendary late-night renegade DJ sets. From hidden 3 a.m. secret sets inside cozy domes to art cars roaming the grounds, you never quite know what side quest you’ll stumble into next. Throughout my years of attending and covering Elements, I’ve seen some wild stuff during the ‘3 am witching-weird hours’ I like to call it. However, I’ve heard some of the best DJ Renegade sets at Elements. It is well worth staying up late to experience the themed camps.

5. Wellness is Just as Important as the Music

Dancing for three days straight requires serious stamina, and the founders of Elements designed the festival to offer a path back to balance. The dedicated "Wellnest" area provides a full program of health and recovery activities. When you need a break from the dance floor, you can head over for Daily yoga and guided breathwork sessions. Plus, sound healing baths and aromatherapy workshops. Including cold plunges and multi-disciplinary wellness panels.

At its heart, Elements is a celebration of self-expression and community. It’s a rare space in the modern festival landscape where the underground spirit is still alive, and the experience of wandering and connecting is just as memorable as the headliners on stage. Don’t miss the Elements Music & Arts Festival 2026. See you there.
