Summer is officially here! Other countries flourish during the dance music festival season. People from their native land travel fair for their specific destination festivals. After waiting so long because of the travel bans, this is the year when the biggest festivals make their most significant return. Some countries gear up all year long for one festival; others have over seventy hundred weekend festivals. Festivals in Europe are a completely different world compared to American festivals. There always are clean toilets, including general admission, well-organized security, and some of the most incredible locations imaginable. If anyone plans an overseas trip, these festivals are worth traveling to for the ultimate experience. These are just a few out of the massive list of European festivals.
Secret Project - Portimao Beach, Portugal | June 17-18
An emerging festival born in the prospering underground scene of downtown Los Angeles. Fusing art, cutting-edge technology, and exceptionally curated house and techno music, the festival is known for its daytime moments, ready to grow beyond its origin. It focuses on a spectrum of underground electronic sound that has always been represented. The festival debuted to great acclaim in Europe with a sold-out crowd of nearly 20,000 attendees during ADE. Secret Project now expands to Portugal for a more organic and sun-kissed affair. It is on sweeping sandy beaches with dramatic limestone rock formations and stunning ocean views.
Torino, Italy | July 1-3
This is an all-techno festival and is one of the biggest festivals in Europe. It’s located in Torino, Italy, and this year it extended the program to three days. Inviting over sixty-five international artists, twenty-four Italian performers, and over fifty thousand participants from over eighty countries. They were the first Italian festival to introduce cashless technology to purchase goods and services at the Festival through a loyalty card. This year’s catalog of techno artists performing at KFF will be the top elite headliners and local talent. Bringing the best of techno artists to date. Each year the city of Torin is taken over by techno and Kappa Futur Festival.
Romania | July 13-17
Romania’s most prominent festival returns to Transylvania at Bánffy Castle. It is one of the only festivals in the world where artists and DJs can perform at an old castle. Taking place next to the iconic 15th-century, in the pristine nature of Transylvania, Electric Castle surprises at every edition with a creative lineup, touching a diversity of genres with new media installations and music performances. It's no wonder that the festival was voted the best European festival. Its breathtaking scenery and historical surroundings create an out-of-the-ordinary way of living and feeling. Boom, Belgium | July 15-17 | July 22-24 | July 29-31
Not one, not two, but three weekends of Tomorrowland this year! It's been years since festival-goers could attend the motherland of music festivals. In celebration of their most significant return in history is extending to three back-to-back weekends. I can’t imagine who has the funds and energy to do all three weekends. Each year the festival sells out within minutes. This year was record-breaking. The complete camping festival entertains campers at the DreamVille stage with a pre-party. The entire country and city of Boom come together to celebrate Tomorrowland with multiple city and local pre-parties. It's an experience all on its own between the food, attendees, production, and decorations. One of the only festivals in the world with its airline and European travel package, Global Journey. The lineup includes top global artists and local Belgian DJs. It welcomes over eight hundred of the world's finest electronic artists to one giant dance floor performing at over fifteen stages. The festival has earned the name of the best festival in the world.
Spaarnwoude Houtrak, Netherlands | July 29 - 31
The 100% all techno festival will host no less than nine areas, both outdoor stages and tents. It is located at Spaarnwoude Houtrak, just outside of Amsterdam. Awakenings has a unique style with top-quality stage design and immersive light shows. It’s one of my personal all-time favorite music festivals. It’s all techno; I have witnessed some of the best sets and performances. This year will have over 80,000 attendees and over one hundred techno DJs. Every artist plays to their total capacity. For the first time in history, attendees will be able to stay the night at our Festival. To get the complete experience, Awakenings is extending to a three-weekend. The ticket gives people access to the festival & extensive camping program each night.
Banja Luka | Aug 11-13
Celebrating ten years of electronic music! The festival returns this year for its biggest event to date. They are located along the Kastel Fortress's walls, on the Vrbas River's left bank. It's home to the biggest festival in Bosnia. In addition to the complete infrastructure are the unique bars, DJ stages, and thick shade under the canopy. Plus, the festival visitors can enjoy rafting. and have unforgettable moments on the magnificent traditional Dayak boat rides. Along with purchasing a festival ticket, attendees can camp for FREE! This year’s lineup is an array of different realms of techno and house music. The lineup features Hernán Cattáneo, Claptone, Hot Since 82, Technasia, Sama’ Abdulhadi, and Adam Beyer.
UK | Aug. 25-28
The motherland of festivals celebrates its 25 anniversary. It's an electronic dance music festival series founded and organized by British club promoter Cream. It was first held in 1998 in Winchester, then moved to its current location on the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire. During the Platinum Jubilee weekend, it recently closed out its first edition of Creamfields South at Hylands Park, Chelmsford. The original festival has attracted over one hundred thousand attendees. It’s home to one of the most thought-out forward-thinking festival production. Where iconic DJs and producers perform the most legendary sets of their entire musical careers. The festival brand has expanded internationally to multiple countries Hong Kong and Thailand. The festival is the UK’s oldest and most prestigious music event.
The Netherlands | Aug 26-28
It’s one of the biggest festivals in the Netherlands. Visitors can immerse in a magical festival experience all weekend long. It's both a Weekend and Camping Festival.
