After headlining Chicago’s biggest house and techno festival, ARC, John Summit wasn’t finished leaving his mark on his hometown this Labor Day Weekend. The sold-out ARC After Dark party at Radius became the ultimate encore, a fiery, late-night celebration that perfectly capped off an already legendary weekend. Radius, with its expansive dance floor and industrial red neon glow, gave off the raw warehouse energy that defines Chicago nightlife. Its booming sound system was more than equipped to handle the thunder of John Summit’s beats and the roar of thousands of devoted fans.

When I arrived, AYYBO was warming up the decks. Fresh off his performance at the elrow stage during ARC, his minimal grooves gradually gave way to a high-energy, bouncing finale, an ideal setup for the night ahead. Next up was Max Styler, a rising name on John Summit’s Experts Only label. Known for tracks like 'On Repeat,' his remix of 'Blessings,' and his latest single 'Every Night,' Styler delivered a set that blended house grooves with dark, European-inspired textures. His consistency and signature sound kept the crowd hooked as more fans poured into Radius, packing the space with anticipation.
By the time John Summit stepped up, Radius had reached full capacity. Navigating through the crowd became nearly impossible as the venue pulsed with energy. Summit wasted no time, kicking off with his anthem 'Where You Are,' sending the crowd into instant chaos. Dressed in the same black tank top and jeans from his ARC set, he rolled straight from festival to afters without missing a beat. Saying his famous line, "Chicago, how the fuck are we feeling?" He’s a true Chicago hustler.

The atmosphere was electric! From 'Human' to 'Go Back' with Julia Church, every track had the crowd shouting back lyrics, dancing shoulder to shoulder, and surrendering to the moment. When he dropped his unreleased edit of 'Coke Diet,' fans lost it, finally experiencing the long-teased track live. The heat inside Radius intensified as Summit fired off 'Shiver,' eventually sending the crowd into a frenzy when he took off his shirt. Acting high and drunk in Chicago to John Summit was a total full-circle moment for me. Just when I thought the night had peaked, he dropped my personal favorite, 'Deep End,' before closing with his soaring remix of 'Sweet Disposition,' a track currently dominating charts and dance floors worldwide.
Witnessing John Summit in his hometown added an extra layer of meaning. This is where it all started for him, throwing house parties in Chicago basements to now headlining ARC Festival, running his Experts Only label, and curating festivals of his own. In just six years, he’s transformed from a local name to one of the most in-demand DJs in the world.
John Summit is more than a performer; he’s a force to be reckoned with. Whether commanding an intimate club or a massive festival stage, he reads a crowd with precision, curates the perfect journey, and leaves fans begging for more. John Summit is already looking ahead by collaborating with Anyma, taking over Ibiza, and preparing to bring his Experts Only Festival NYC.
This Labor Day weekend proved once again that John Summit isn’t just a DJ, he’s the maestro of modern dance music. In Chicago, his city, his home, that energy hits differently.
