The beat is rising, and the future is female. On Thursday, July 17, 2025, history will be made at the iconic rooftop of 1 Hotel Brooklyn. Setting the stage for the debut New York City edition of Change The Beat, in partnership with Support Women DJs. Celebrating women and underrepresented artists in electronic music, pushing boundaries, and taking center stage in an industry that’s long overdue for balance. The 1 Hotel Brooklyn will be transformed into a serenity overlooking the New York City skyline, dancing under the night sky with only the sounds of dance music played by all-women DJs in the industry.

Whether you're a deep house devotee, techno lover, or here for the vibes, this one-night-only rooftop event promises an electric atmosphere and world-class talent. Change the Beat is a nonprofit organization devoted to uplifting electronic music artists, producers, and DJs with a focus on women and underrepresented voices in the music industry by offering access to education, mentorship, workshops, and networking opportunities. Founded by renowned DJ and producer Sydney Blu, the initiative champions a supportive and inclusive creative community that’s shaping the future of the global music scene. Its mission is to break down barriers by providing artists with essential production tools, professional development, and career-building support. Originally launched as #23by23, a campaign backed by Native Instruments and in partnership with Beatport. Change The Beat remains committed to advancing gender equity in electronic music. The organization tackles the industry’s stark gender disparity, where only 5% of signed artists identify as women or gender-expansive individuals, by working directly with record labels to boost representation.

Looking ahead to 2025, Change The Beat will continue to scale its influence with global club nights, festival appearances, and curated showcases featuring both rising stars from the program and established headliners. These events will also include hands-on educational workshops led by experienced women professionals, providing mentorship and skill-building for the next generation of artists. This includes the debut New York City edition at the 1 Hotel Brooklyn.

The lineup will feature an array of talent, including Akki, a special back-to-back performance by Libby Jade and Mimi Rupert. Headlining this one-of-a-kind event is none other than Canadian powerhouse Sydney Blu. She is known for her dynamic sets and hard-hitting productions on Mau5trap, Drumcode, and HE.SHE.THE. Her chart-topping releases and relentless advocacy for gender equity in dance music make her the perfect force to lead this lineup. Akki brings her blend of groove-heavy house and raw, underground energy. This dynamic back-to-back set will showcase two rising stars of the Support Women DJs collective. With affiliations to Armada Music and an ear for genre-bending sets, Libby Jade and Mimi Rupert are guaranteed to turn heads and move feet.

As the sun sets and the bass kicks in, Change The Beat New York City will send a clear message. Diversity belongs on the dancefloor, and women belong behind the decks. Don’t miss this genre-shaking, rooftop-raising night of music and movement. Grab your crew, lace up your dancing shoes, and get ready to dance under the stars. Tickets are available now at Resident Advisor.

Solomun at Pacha New York - Event Review

Every artist has a line they won't cross. For Bosnia-born, Hamburg-raised electronic giant Solomun, that line was geographical. For over ten years, the Diynamic Music boss adhered to a strict, self-imposed summer boundary that once the Ibiza season starts, you do not cross time zones. No transatlantic flights, no grueling long-hauls, and absolutely no leaving […]
