On the Ibiza closing weekend, everyone in the dance community celebrates another successful season and the dawning of a new chapter that awaits the next year. People were dancing on tables, smiles everywhere, cheers, claps, and cracks in the air. Last night or, should I say morning, during the final hours at Amnesia Ibiza, a photo of Jack Revill known as DJ name Jackmaster emerged on the graphics screen with a farewell message. Everyone was completely stunned and in disbelief at what the people at Amnesia were seeing. The shocking news of Jackamster's passing rippled through Ibiza and the dance world.

Everyone in the dance community has been pouring out: every DJ and producer who made a track with Jackamster, every DJ who performed with him or had an encounter. Every sorrowful post on social media has been circling supporting the great Jackamster.
I normally don’t write about DJs passing away unexpectedly. However, Jackamster is a special exception. From a young age, Jack was known as a talented producer and DJ. The Scottish DJ grew up in Glasgow, UK where he was influenced to dance music. While working at a record store as a teenager, he adopted the name ‘Jackmaster’ a popular term coined in the Chicago house music scene in the late 80s. He soon began his career by locking himself in the studio and creating monumental tracks to lead everyone into a new era of dance music. He collaborated with renowned DJs such as Patrick Topping, Mike Dunn, Avision, Seth Troxler, Camelphat, Disclosure, and more. He was one of the masterminds behind the infamous DJ group J.E.S.u.S. The members were Eats Everything, Seth Troxler, and Skream. He has inspired many artists, Revill's meteoric rise, ignited by his electrifying performances and collaborative spirit, catapulted him to the forefront of the global dance scene.

When I first started as a journalist in 2014, I was assigned to cover a Mixmag lab event in Brooklyn. There were Mixmag magazines of the hottest artists and promo CDs everywhere, I picked up an exclusive Mixmag CD with Jackamster on it. I never heard the name and didn’t recognize the face. I took it home that night I played the CD in my car when suddenly my music world changed forever. Tears flowed from my eyes, and my body moved uncontrollably because of the stunning sounds from the compilation. I was forever changed that night listening to Jackamster’s Mixmag Compilation CD. I started finding more mixes from Jackamster which extended my music palet to more realms. I will forever hold him in a special place in my heart. I had the chance and amazing opportunity to see J.E.S.U.S. at the Spider Stage during Ultra Miami. He was a legend before he was officially labeled a legend. I was utterly stunned and deeply saddened when I learned about the tragic event.
While details are still forming about his passing, the official statement has been posted on his Instagram page:
“It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster. Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of 12th October, following complications arising from an accidental head injury. His family—Kate, Sean, and Johnny — are utterly heartbroken. While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss. Jack’s passion for music and his relentless drive to push creative boundaries through his work at the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, including discovering countless innovative artists, made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community both in front of and behind the scenes. His talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJ sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of peers and fans across the globe.
